Captain America: Civil War trailer | Movies

Captain America Civil War posterThere’s this little movie coming out in may or april (depending on where you live) called Captain America: Civil War. It’s the final part in an amazing and kind of strange trilogy. I call it strange as every movie within that trilogy is another genre and it’s not entirely a trilogy when considering the crossovers into The Avengers.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed the first two movies and I’m desperately counting down the days until the latest comes out (only 47 days left). Oh yeah, click the poster to go watch that awesometastic, like that’s even a word.
Warning: there’s going to be quite some GIFs in this post.

In Captain America: Civil War we get to see some of our favourite Marvel heroes divided and clashing with each other in one of the biggest battles we’ve seen thus far (until the entire MCU comes together in Infinity War that is). They are divided in two teams #TeamCap and #TeamIronMan. To be honest, I am more on Iron Man’s side, but I’ll wait until after I’ve seen the movie to make a definitive choice. I think it’s a good thing they’re giving both sides some good reasons as to why they’re opposing each other.

Captain America Civil War VIII

What’s so great about the MCU is that everything is connected. That’s also what they showed in this trailer. The things that happened in previous movies now have implications in this one. Another great thing about this is that we get to see all these great other characters again.

Captain America Civil War II

Captain America Civil War IV

As said I’ve before, Iron Man and Captain America are going head to head and hand to hand as it seems from this next scene.

Captain America Civil War VI

I don’t think Rhodey will be dead, even though it definitely looks like it in all of the trailers. I just don’t think they would immediately show a character’s death in every trailer. It’s a bit obvious. On the other hand, it would give this dispute even more depth.

Captain America Civil War XI.gif

We get some more footage of Black Panther in action. He seems like a really powerful and badass characters who’s going to be a major addition to Iron Man’s team.

Captain America Civil War X

Captain America Civil War I

This scene was also shown in the previous trailer, but it’s also included here and it’s still an amazing scene. The fact that Bucky is willing to shoot Tony in the face and Tony’s reaction to the actual shot (which proves that Robert Downey Jr. is indeed a great actor).

Captain America Civil War VII

Can we also take a moment to wonder how badass Scarlet Witch is, because she’s able to make Vision, who is supposed to be invincible and extremely powerful, kneel before her.

Captain America Civil War IX

How cool was this move from Hawkeye and Ant-Man?! The latter was hidden inside that arrow, talk about upgrading your arrows.

Captain America Civil War XII

Now as to probably the most talked about scene from the trailer, Spider-Man finally made his first appearance in the MCU in the best way possible: by grabbing Cap’s shield and greeting everyone. I’m not entirely sold on his costume, but the moving eyes are awesome.

Captain America Civil War III

The next GIF probably best shows what went on in my head whilst watching this trailer.

Captain America Civil War V

We are still left in the dark about the villains in this movie. We’ve only seen the slightest of Crossbones and nothing of Baron Zemo. That’s what I first thought would be the case with Spider-Man as well. That they would keep the surprise until you actually go see the movie, though I don’t mind already seeing him.
You can probably tell I’m very excited to see this movie and can’t wait! Are you as excited and what did you think about this trailer and Spider-Man’s inclusion?
I’ll see you later!

    1. I’m not 100% sure. It seems like the death of a character is something too big to just show in every single trailer. You’re quite right to say that his death would be an extra reason for Tony to take on Cap.
I’ve also seen someone comment that the blast Rhodey is struck with looks a lot like the beam that comes from Vision. Though that doesn’t entirely makes sense as they’re supposed to be on the same team.
I guess we’ll just have to find out during the movie 😁

    1. Yes there’s quite some tension present in this trailer. I mean, look at that slap Tony gave Cap, that’s not something a friend would easily do…
Unfortunately it’s not Garfield. I though he did a decent job portraying Spider-Man, but I understand that Marvel would want someone new to play the him to get a clean slate when he enters the MCU. He is now played by Tom Holland, who I only know from The Impossible, but he was amazing in that so I reckon he’ll do a fine job as Spidey 😁

  2. Jonas, I never even thought of that when I first saw the trailer. Rhodes’ death has to be the reason Tony goes after Cap. I like the relationship between Tony and Rhodes too. That sucks now that I think about it. I was already #TeamIronMan, but if that’s the premise, I’m seriously hating on Cap now. I was bummed they switched Spider-Man too. I liked Garfield, just didn’t like the end of the last movie.

    1. I feel like it’s a bit strange that they would already show his death in the trailer, perhaps he’s just badly injured or something, I don’t know. Garfield was a good Spiderman, though I haven’t seen the second one yet. I reckon Tom Holland will do a great job as well 😁

      1. Ugh, I hope not. They can’t kill Rhodes. I can’t believe they’re going back to high school Peter Parker again. I can’t watch the same origin story again. I’m sure everyone else was bummed about that too.

      2. I guess it would depend if it’s different from the Tobey Maguire version. I liked the one with Garfield a lot. Still bummed he’s not Spider-Man, but I’m sure the new kid is just as good. Marvel knows what they’re doing when it comes to casting.

      3. I guess the fact that he appears in Civil War must mean that we won’t see an origin story here. Though that doesn’t mean we won’t get one in the solo Spider-Man movie.

      4. I’m just glad that Sony finally smartened up and teamed with Marvel. Sony didn’t have any real sense of direction with Spider-Man. It was like they just threw the last one together. That’s why the box office was so disappointing. They blamed Garfield for that, but I think it was whoever the creative director was for the series. I just read an article and Kevin Feige said there won’t be an origin story for the new Spider-Man. They’re just diving right into it since we already know the story. That’s a relief.

      5. Well, they are not entirely coworking with Marvel as they plan to still release other movies in the Spidey-universe without Marvel. We’ll see how it goes.
That’s good I guess, that they won’t do an origin story. I honestly don’t know what I think about it. It has it’s pros and cons, I think.
