Listen To This | Vol IV

Listen To This is a series where I introduce you to some of my favourite songs at the moment. These are some of the songs that blew my mind, surprised me in some way or are just plainly awesome. I listen to these songs on repeat so often that I wonder how it’s even possible that I’m still not tired of hearing them. As I listen to music every single day and it’s a big part of my life, I feel like it’s important to let other people know some of these songs so they don’t miss out on greatness.
The titles contain a link to the corresponding Spotify-page of that song, so you can just go ahead and listen to these right away and I highly encourage you to do so.

Say It – Flume ft. Tove Lo
I was kind of sad that Flume played at Rock Werchter, a large music festival in Belgium, on a different day than the one when I was there, but that doesn’t stop me from constantly playing his songs. There are quite a few songs on his second album Skin, which was released this year, that are worth mentioning, like Say It and Never Be Like You.

People – Youth Club
This upbeat and fun song by Youth Club is the excellent song for the summer season. In 2014 they released their debut EP called Colours and this song is already from their second one called BrothersBreathe is one of their other great songs.

Killer – WrongOnYou
This artist hasn’t been around that long and apparently he got discovered online. Killer is the first single released. He has a very calming voice, which is great when mixed with the slower beat. His recently released song The Lake is a bit more up-tempo and joyful.

Half Light – BANNERS
BANNERS, mostly known for his songs Start a Riot and Shine a Light, has released a new single at the end of May called Half Light. His music is very low-key and serene and that’s what makes it so great. The songs I mentioned are fantastic to use as music for reading, studying or something like that.

What If I Go? – Mura Masa ft. Bonzai
When I went to Rock Werchter, just over a week ago, Mura Masa was the first artist we saw. His songs are excellent to listen to in the summer. He usually creates these songs together with other artists, which gives every song a different touch. They’re usually nice combinations between soft vocals and interesting sounds.

Good Grief – Bastille
Bastille is back with a catchy new song called Good Grief. It’s the first song from their new album Wild World that is slated to be released on September 9th. The band has stated that they’ll explore some new sounds on their new album, but that the songs will definitely still have their signature style, which is already very obvious from Good Grief.

I definitely suggest you give these songs a listen and let me know what you think of them. Also recommend me some other songs I should add to my playlist.
I’ll see you later!

  1. I was waiting for Half Light to be released FOREVER! BANNERS is featuered on The Royals a ton and that show is totally my guilty pleasure. So, they often use their songs and then you cannot find them ANYWHERE because they aren’t officially out yet. DROVE. ME. MAD!
