January 1st, 2017.
We’re right at the start of a new year, which is generally a time where we take a look back at what has happened the year before and where we try to figure out what the next twelve months will bring us. I’m not going to delve into clichés like “New Year, New Me” or “I’m going to do better this year”.
I think we can all agree that 2016 wasn’t the best year. A lot has happened, both great as well as devastating things. Every year has its ups and downs, 2016 just had a lot of them. For me personally, it wasn’t the best year either, though I also can’t say that it was an awful year. I experienced some great things too this year. Things I can be proud of, things I can’t look back on without getting a smile on my face and just a lot of small things that make life so much better. So I’d like to put my focus on the joyful events of this year and here are a few of the biggest ones. I’ll probably forget to mention a lot of things, but I’ll give it a try.
It’s the first of July today, which means that we’re halfway through 2016. This year has gone by so fast already. A lot has happened since the start of this year. I went to London, I became 19, I finished my first year at college and so much more.
The reason I’m mentioning this is because the first day of July also means that my blog is nog six months old. I started this blog on January 1st. I thought I’d celebrate this with a short recap and a small Q&A.

It’s been exactly a month since my birthday and I’m only now doing my haul. This post is way overdue, but I do have a good reason for it. I always get these wonderful gifts from my family which I’m very thankful for. But they also always give me some money and I usually go online immediately and order a bunch of stuff. I basically wanted to wait with writing this post until everything I ordered had arrived and now that’s finally the case, except for one thing, but I can live with that.
The Flash – season one
I’m starting with something that I didn’t get for my birthday. I actually bought this one a few days before my birthday, because I still had a gift card that would soon expire. As I’ve said in a recent post, I’m really excited about watching The Flash, but I’m first going to catch up on Arrow in order to watch that universe in the correct chronological order.
Marshall Major II headphones
Music is very important to me. I listen everyday and that requires some good headphones. I used to listen with the earbuds that I got when I bought my phone, but it was time to buy something better. And when I saw these Marshall headphones being discounted, I immediately knew that I wanted them. These headphones deliver great sound and are comfortable to wear.

Ever since I was a kid I was part of several fandoms. Not in the way that I would rave about it with others, but I did collect a lot of toys or books or anything else that was part of the merchandising. As I was recollecting memories from my childhood I can say that I’ve been part of five major fandoms. That is to say that these are the main ones, as I was a fan of a lot of things. Though if I would include all of those into this post, I could go on forever.
Bob the Builder
If you don’t believe everything is possible, then you don’t know Bob the Builder. He can build everything you want and fix all that is broken. As a kid, this series was amazing. It had a sympathetic and reliable main character and several other characters, in this case vehicles, who each had a different personality that added to a whole. What now seems like a simple, and silly to be honest, series was something great to watch when I was young.

I was tagged for another Liebster Award by Bex from Film Music Central. I did one of these quite a while ago and I’ve seen them around very often. You basically get some question that you have to answer as best as you can.
What is your favourite animated Disney film?
I think it’ll have to be The Lion King. It’s a great movie and I recently saw the musical adaptation in London and it was just amazing. Now to be honest, it has been a while since I’ve last seen a Disney animated film. I should really watch those more often because there are a lot of them that I still haven’t seen yet and I’ve forgotten a lot about the ones that I did see.
Which Star Wars film is the best?
I’m going to have to say the latest one, Star Wars: the Force Awakens. I saw all of the movies this year for the first time and the last one blew my mind and surpassed, for me personally, the older ones. Probably because the visual effects have improved immensely since the first one was released.

My last exam is coming up next week, so it’s the perfect time to start looking forward to the summer vacation. The good weather, traveling and loads of free time are things I’m in desperate need of. School has been extremely busy this year, as I just almost finished my first year in college, and I really need some time to catch up on sleep and all other sorts of things. In this post I’d like to take a look at all the things that I’m aspiring to read or watch this summer.
Yes Please – Amy Poehler
I’ve already started reading this quite a while ago, but I wasn’t able to continue reading due to having to read another book for school. Now that that’s over I’ll gladly reprise Yes Please. I’ve only read 36 pages (and the prologue) so far, but I was already really enjoying it. She’s hilarious and it’s fun to know she’s dealing with other people and situations.
Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn
I think it’s about time that I read this one. Gone Girl has garnered a lot of critical acclaim and it has been lauded by readers, so I guess that’s the most important recommendation you can get. The fact that I liked The Girl on the Train so much and that it is being called ‘the new Gone Girl’ should say something, right? I’m really excited to read this one, or perhaps devour is a better word, and then I can finally watch the movie as well.

Let’s just say that I’ve found a new addiction, in the form of the social media site and app called Pinterest. I’m having my exams at the moment and, as every student, I was getting distracted. When looking at all my bookmarks I happened to stumble upon Pinterest. It had been ages since I last logged in to the website and now I’ve been using it everyday since. Be sure to click on the image below and go follow me.
I’ve gone from having 3 boards to now having 30 and I’m still adding more and more. I can’t explain why, but I really enjoy making all these boards with their different subjects and adding stuff to them. It’s fun to watch your boards grow along the way. Of course a lot of my boards are a bit empty at the moment, but that’s mainly since I’ve just added these all at once and I’m sure these will get filled rather quickly.

I was tagged by Sara from Freadomlibrary to do the I Messed Up Tag. You basically just look at things you did wrong with books or isn’t really something you should do. That’s a vague description, I know, but you’ll get what I mean when you have read the post.
A CHARACTER’S APPEARANCE THAT YOU MISREAD OR IMAGINED DIFFERENTLY
When I saw the trailer for The Girl on the Train, I felt like I imagined a lot of it differently. Some of the characters don’t look the same as they did in my head and that’s actually kind of weird, because I already knew the casting before reading this book. Emily Blunt was exactly who I pictured as Rachel, but Megan and Anna are definitely not what I had in mind.
A CHARACTER NAME THAT YOU’VE BEEN PRONOUNCING WRONG
Just pick any character from Game of Thrones. Sure, some of them are now easier to pronounce thanks to the television series, but some other still seem like they’re just some letters thrown together.

It’s the Happiness Tag! Because who doesn’t like to be happy? Here are five things that make me happy and five songs that instantly put a smile on my face. Jouska from TheJouskablog tagged everyone to do this one, so I did and so should you.

Time for another tag and this is the Four Facts Survey Tag and I’m looking for people who are interested in writing a guest post, but more information on that at the bottom. For this tag you basically just have to say four things about each of these subjects. It’s rather self-explanatory. I saw this tag on Kyleigh‘s blog Chatter From A Coffeehouse and I wasn’t actually tagged for this one, but she said anyone could give it a try so I did. Let’s go.
Four Names People Call Me Other Than My Real Name
- I was called Jambon once, it is based on my last name.
- My grandmother used to call me Jo’ke sometimes, as an abbreviation of my first name.
- People also just call me weird, not really a name though.
- I really have no other nicknames.
Four Jobs I’ve Had
- I most recently worked as a cashier at a grocery store.
- I’ve also worked as a cleaner in a hospital.
- Can I consider being a student as a job? Since it takes up a lot of time and there’s a lot of work.
- Those are all the jobs I’ve done so far.
