Watch These Trailers | Vol III

Now who doesn’t love a good movie trailer? I know I do.
In Watch These Trailers I list a few trailers which I thought were important or significant enough to be mentioned. Find the trailer I’m talking about by clicking on the title. I’m fully aware that some of these trailers came out a while ago, but they are still worth talking about.

Assassin’s Creed
This looks interesting. I’ve played the game a few times and I really liked it. As far as what they show in the trailer, this looks like it’s fairly good at adapting the idea behind the game. The characters are completely new, but the overall feel and story do seem like they could come from the game. The visuals are stunning and the cast, including Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, is promising.

Moana
The next Disney Princess is almost upon us and she’s called Moana. Moana Waialiki seems like great character that can stand her own. However, I’m afraid that Dwayne Johnson as demi-god Maui will grab the attention as he’s already featured heavily in the trailer. The animation looks stunning and the soundtrack for this movie is something I’m very much looking forward to.

The Jungle Book | Movie Review

Jungle Book

IMDB | Letterboxd | Trailer

This is an exceptional movie with stunning visuals. It’s a great adaptation of the 1967 Disney classic and the stories by Rudyard Kipling. While being a more modern and realistic approach to the story, it still manages to capture the magic and atmosphere of the original movie.

First of all I want to talk about the visuals. This movie is gorgeous. You immediately feel like you are in the jungle and not even once did I have the feeling that this was all made up. The use of special effects is terrific, you can’t see the difference between what’s real and what isn’t (and not much of it is real, so that’s even more impressive). The world that they have created is amazing and extremely big. It amazes me to think that they never even left their studio lot to go film in an actual jungle-like location.

Star Wars: the Force Awakens | Movie Review

Star Wars Episode VII

IMDB | Letterboxd | Trailer

I know I’m a little late to the The Force Awakens-hype. I’m a little late to the entire Star Wars hype actually. I hadn’t watched any of these movies until a week ago. I thought it was about time to see why everyone was going crazy for this one. So as anyone should do, I did a marathon of all seven movies with my sister and I’m glad I did. I won’t bore you with my thoughts on the original and prequel trilogies, but I do want to share my views on the latest one.

The Force Awakens is a great new entry in the Star Wars-franchise. Abrams did an brilliant job at continuing the look and feel of the older movies. Within the first minute of the movie, you immediately get the sense that it’s a Star Wars movie. I’m also glad that they’ve kept the tradition of the opening crawl at the beginning of these movies, since they give you a bit of needed background information.
I can see how some people feel it resembles the first Star Wars movie a lot, but I feel like that didn’t bother me as much. It has a lot of elements that the original had, but it differentiated enough to be distinguished as a different story.
