Now who doesn’t love a good trailer? I know I do.
In Watch These Trailers, I make a list of ten recent trailers that look promising or are worth talking about. Find the trailer I’m talking about by clicking on the title.
This volume has mostly trailers that came out of San Diego Comic Con, except for the last two. The convention took place last weekend and saw the release of many trailers for some of the most anticipated upcoming movies. I have already talked aboutthe Marvel/Netflix series and their new trailers in detail, so they are not included here.
This is probably one of the most talked about trailers from the convention. It’s the first time that we’re getting a female-led superhero movie. There’s been a lot of talk about a standalone Black Widow movie, which we still aren’t getting, and the Captain Marvel movie, which is set to premiere in 2019. This means that Wonder Woman is the first one to star in her own movie and from what we can see in this trailer, it’s going to be awesome. It’s set during the first World War and seems to offer some amazing action scenes. The movie sees Gal Gadot reprise her role as the titular character after she already appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Chris Pine, Robin Wright and Connie Nielson will appear alongside her. She later will again portray the character in Justice League, but more on that later.

In Watch These Trailers I list a few trailers which I thought were important or significant enough to be mentioned. Find the trailer I’m talking about by clicking on the title. I’m fully aware that some of these trailers came out a while ago, but they are still worth talking about.
Doctor Strange After Captain America: Civil War, which comes out in a few days here and I’ll be seeing it right away, we are treated with a new and kind of different hero. Doctor Strange, portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch, is the newest addition to the MCU and the trailer looks awesome. In this movie we are being introduced to the magical side of the MCU and other dimensions. From what we can see in the trailer, the magic is going to be gorgeous visually and I hope we get a lot of it. We are getting an origin story here, but I’m not really against it as Doctor Strange has a different and tragic reason as to why and how he became the titular character. He goes a long way before he actually becomes the Sorcerer Supreme and I think it’s going to be interesting.
The Girl on the Train I was excited to see this trailer pop up on social media, because I’ve read the book and I was really interested to see how they would adapt it on screen. I was a tiny bit disappointed as some things weren’t as I imagined them whilst reading, but I guess that that will always be the case. I think Emily Blunt is a great chose as the main character and will hopefully still be untrustworthy as she was in the book. That sense of unreliability, with all of the characters really, is quite crucial to the story and I hope that they’ll get that right.
The Founder At first, I raised an eyebrow when I heard someone was making a movie about how McDonald’s started. I thought it was going to be just one big advertisement for the fast-food chain. Though now that I’ve seen the trailer, I really think that they are going to give us an honest and real representation of how the company came to be.
It seems that Michael Keaton will once again be great as the main character and it’s great to see Nick Offerman again. I like how the trailer gets more intense while it progresses.
2016 is a year where a lot of movies are being released. A lot is kind of an understatement really. From all these I’ve picked 20 movies that I’m excited about seeing in theatres. I have already done a first part with ten of them and here’s the second part of the list. I am really looking forward to all of these, because of their awesome trailers, plots or, if they are a sequel, the first movie in that series. Some of these don’t have trailers or posters, so I’ll add some concept art instead. These are in no particular order, because I’m excited about all of them and didn’t wan’t to pick any favourites.
