Batman and Superman are united on screen, at last. It’s something I had long been waiting for and now that I’ve finally seen it I must admit that I’m not convinced this was the big battle they promised us. We saw them fight, we saw them playing mind games with each other, but I feel like this movie missed a few important things and did things that weren’t necessary. Be warned as I might be discussing some spoilers.
The very first part of the movie was already a bit confusing. I thought that they were trying to introduce so many things that it didn’t make any sense. The Batman origin story was done well and wasn’t too elaborate, as we’ve seen that story once before and it would be tedious to watch it again and again. Though that in combination with the other scenes that followed made for a strange start of the movie. I think they tried to set up some things too early and without enough explanation.

So I finally went to see Deadpool a couple of days ago. It’s long overdue since it came out more than a month ago. Even the cashier at the movie theater didn’t believe we were this late to watch the movie. My sister knows her, so she wasn’t being rude or something and she had a point. For being a big fan of superhero movies and Marvel in general, it did take me a while to go watch this. Now that I’ve finally seen Deadpool I have to admit, I don’t really know how I feel about it. It was exactly what I expected it was going to be, but it also wasn’t entirely that. I’m making no sense at all, am I? Let me explain.

With the arrival of the new season of Daredevil and already a second season of Jessica Jones announced, I felt like it was the perfect time to finally start watching both these series. I’m reviewing the first seven episodes of the first season below and I’ll then give you my overall thoughts so far. So if you’d rather just read that, skip to the end of the post. I’m well aware that reading this entire post can become tedious, so that’s why I’m giving you a heads-up.
It was my plan to watch the entire season in one go after my exams, but I kind of failed in doing so. I got to around half before I had to go back to school and I’ve been so busy lately that I still haven’t finished the entire season. It also messed up my plans to watch Jessica Jones, but I’m still planning to watch that soon.
Just a few disclaimers before I begin. I’m writing these as I’m watching, so it can occur that I write something and that it, after a couple of episodes, doesn’t make sense anymore. There might also be some slight spoilers along the way, so be warned and make sure you want to read all of it.
