This or That | Tag

It’s time for another tag. In this one I get served ten dilemma’s, all associated with books, where I have to pick the choice that applies most to my own situation and behaviour.
I was tagged by Jillian from Rant and Rave About Books.

  1. Mention the creator of the tag (Ayunda @ Tea and Paperbacks).
  2. Thank the blogger who tagged you!
  3. Choose one of the options—you don’t have to explain the reason for your choice, but you can admit to it, if you want to.
  4. To spread the love, tag 10 other people to do this tag.

#1   Reading on the couch or on the bed?
Definitely on the bed. I spend most of my time in my own room and I don’t have a couch there so.

#2   Male main character or female main character?
This doesn’t really matter for me as long as the characters are interesting.

#3   Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?
I don’t usually eat while I’m reading, but if I do have to pick one I’ll say sweet snacks.

#4   Trilogies or quartets?
Again, this doesn’t really matter. Though as I haven’t read a lot of books yet, I can’t really form an opinion. What I do think is important is that there has to be enough elements to the story to be expanded in several books instead of just one.

#5   First person point of view or third person point of view?
I like the first person point of view, because we then get additional information about the character and what they’re thinking. It’s a good use for character development and reveals the reasoning behind certain things that they do. On the other hand it can sometimes get a bit annoying and derivative of the actual plot. So for some stories I prefer third person.

#6   Reading at night or in the morning?
Definitely reading at night. I’m not a morning person and I wouldn’t be able to keep my attention to the book. I function way better at night, even for homework and stuff. On top of that I don’t fall asleep that easily, so a book can help in those situations.

#7   Libraries or bookstores?
Bookstores, without a doubt. I can’t even remember the last time I went to the library. I know it can be useful to just go and rent a book, but I’d rather just buy it and put it on my shelf.

#8   Books that make you laugh or make you cry?
Laughing, for sure. I’m always up for a good laugh. I’m currently reading Yes Please by Amy Poehler and I have already laughed out loud more than I would’ve imagined.

#9   Black book covers or white book covers?
I’m guessing that this is about the actual book and not the dust-jacket or sleeve. It doesn’t really matter that much, but it just has to fit with the book.

#10   Character driven or plot driven stories?
Plot driven stories, because if you don’t have a good plot, but with good characters, there’s still not much they can do to make the story better. When you look at it the other way around, good plot with bad characters, it might be the case the these characters ruin the plot by just being annoying. So I’ll go for plot over characters, I can live with a bad character or two as long as it doesn’t take away from the plot.

This was interesting to think about, for me at least. I’m not tagging anyone else, because I’ve seen this tag quite a few times. Though if you haven’t done this one yet and really want to it, you shouldn’t doubt about it, give it a go and let me know when you do.
I’ll see you later!

  2. Hey, Jonas. I’m glad you decided to do the tag. I love Amy Poehler. She’s so funny. I bet her book is hilarious. Have you seen her new movie, Sisters, with Tina Fey? I agree with you on libraries. Until my blogger friends told me that I could rent ebooks at out libraries, I thought they only had older books available for rent. Apparently, I was wrong. They have a bunch of new titles here.

  3. I’ll put this one on my blog to-do list! Though I’ll be doing a Dutch version :p (and I hate tablet spelling corrector. Wants to change all my words back to Dutch :@ )
